Clear cure goo and UV light?
Have any of you used or tried it? I hope its easy to use. I ordered it on ebay and have been waiting patiently for it to arrive for a good 2 weeks.
I saw the pics of these chironies that are made with it and drooled hahahha
I also saw this video and that's what convinced me to buy it

I use it on a variety of flies including streamer heads.

Works awesome but you need to subject it to the UV light for longer than they recommend and eventually you may purchase the pro light as the regular light that comes with the kit, although efficient, doesn't cure as quickly as I'd like. Nonetheless a great product. I prefer the Hydro goo above all the others they offer.

It does work well. I tend to do a "position set" of the goo, then use hemostats to remove the fly (by the eye of the hook) and stick it into a piece of foam, then place it outside for a while (usually after a batch of 1-2 dozen).

Don't need a separate UV light if you have a newer smart phone. Just download a free flash light app and shine it on the goo. Works great and cures in a few seconds.

Wine corks are your best friend. Eliminates the need for hemostats.

The clear cure goo is a good one BUT it has that tacky feel and then you have to use the thin + the hydro................At the fly fishing show I saw Davie Mcphail using the Bug bond, after some good searching in internet I got the bug bond from a local (Calgary) website and let me tell ya, the bug bond is faaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrr better than the clear cure goo or even the loon uv resins. I have it all and all have the tacky feel EXCEPT the bug bond, great great great uv resin, the professional torch that comes with the kit is awesome. google: Bug Bond Original UV Fly Tying Kit calgary

Bug bond is certainly the bet, I've tried a few different brands and some of it do stay tacky. Which means you have to give it a quick coat of head cement which defeats the purpose.

I was using the coat, but since I'm using the bug bond...no coat at all and you dont have to stay more than 10 sec hitting the fly with the torch, few seconds and let's go fishing...for some reason Davie Mcphail use it...no? give it a try, is worth every dollar. I got it with free shipping and ten off

CCG Hydro isn't tacky at all, the other products by CCG will be tacky after curing with the light but a quick wipe with rubbing alcohol will fix that.

The Hydro makes the same work as the coat finish and that's why some people first use the thin uv resin and after that they go with the hydro, to eliminate the tacky feel. The hydro doesn't has the same viscosity of the thin resin, so with the hydro you have to build up layers in your fly, 2-3 layers. Bug Bond has the viscosity of the thin uv resin plus the finish of the hydro, no tacky at all. The bug bond is the best, no layers, no alcohol, just uv resin + uv light and good to go.

Thanks for posting this.
I've forgotten about it until you reminded me.
I luv those buzzers by Davie McPhail and have tried tying them.
I just ordered a bottle of Bug Bond from the UK.....it's a lil expensive but I'm sure well worth it.
Can't wait to try it and make some more Buzzer's

They have the thin and the thick, i can't remember if these are the names they use. The original is a just in the middle, is not like water and it's not too thick. I'm just really glad since I'm using it.

I got the clear cure goo, and it can be tacky till you know what youre doin but it only took me 2-3 flies before I got it down. It makes fantastic looking chironomids......the heads look soo good!
Ill have to try this other stuff too but soo far pleased with this!!
Its tacky if you dont cure it properly it seems. However, if you apply the uv light generously and let it sit for a bit its fine!
