Default What do you think?

Which Blank would you people choose?

I'm not asking if you would or would not have this type of Wood, or whether or not you would even have a Wood stocked Gun. Only that if you had to choose which would it be.

7 or 8 -- love that blonde tiger-stripey stuff.

Though I wouldn't put that on a big-bore -- only Weatherbys should be that colour. An African gun would get 14 or 15.

I edited it to clear up some confusion.

There are only 4 different blanks.

Thanx for looking, and ya it will be on a Bigbore, but it most definately wont be a Weatherby!

How many are you showing us? Are they all different, or are there some repeat photos of one?

There are no 2 blanks the same, only different pics of each blank. I put a ---------------------betwixt all the different individual blanks.

Heres a direct quote from the email the Gunbuilder just sent me

All of the blanks you listed except the last one, 658 would make nice stocks. It has poor layout in the grip.
I'll edit the above post & take out #4.......Was one of the 2 I was leaning more towards.>:

I know what you mean 454, its tuff.

I like the number 2 blank. Hand rubbed with boiled linseed oil that blond wood would glow. I had an Over and Under 12 bore with a similar colored stock at one time (lost it in a poker game).

I like No.2, of course #4 is fine as well. I will stick with #2.

the first 3 will all be good for a heavy recoiling rifle. I don't care for the first one as I don't like slab sawn wood, just a personal preference, looks like a good solid blank. The second is very good except I don't like the sapwood that shows on the left side at the bottom of the pistol grip although it might not appear once the stock is trimmed to shape. Nice dark striping and a bit of fiddleback figure. The third is near perfect grain flow through the wrist/pistol grip, nice quarter sawn blank. The fourth one is to be avoided at all costs as the grain flow through the wrist/pistol grip couldn't be laid out any worse, very weak, no good for a heavy kicker. Myself i'd choose either 2 or 3. Your link to the other site dosen't work for me.
