Ya they guy we dealt with last weekend was awesome gave us all kinds of tips. Even sold me a hook out of his own stash that worked awesome. The other thing we did was hire a guide he took us to a great spot where we caught some quality fish. We also went on our own and caught fish but the guide was worth the money his name is jerry and he's with it'sakeeper.com

are there any tackle shops in Cold Lake? we didn't find anything except Canadian tire and walmart last year

thanks
Depending on which way you come there is Sylvesters in Bonneville on 28 or poachers corner in Glendon and if you come in on 55 there is a gas station with a big tackle shop in it can't remember the name or even the gas right now

Went out for lings on sunday night and got skunked.
Hit the North side monday morning and did great on lakers. Biggest approx 10lbs

If you need fishing gear in Cold Lake dont waste your time, just go to Exsile. Their right beside 7/11. Great guys and they have the gear you need for Lakers

thanks, I think we actually tried to stop at exisle but they were closed last year

are trucks driving around ok?

anybody recommend any access points? not asking for hot spots but looking for some other spots to drive on...we stay at the dockside inn and drive straight out from the marina...mixed results, nothing over 10lbs yet

Lake Update as of Sunday

The lake was 21 inches thick.
The west side of the lake was great to drive on but we ran there was a huge pressure ridge that had us pretty freaked out that started on the east side and went quite a ways through the middle of the lake. I wanted to get out to take some pictures to share but my buddy did not want to stop.

In wish I could be more specific.

We entered both days from the marina and no problems.

Hope this helps.

Not too sure about the Cold Lake store. I bought the last ones the Lloydminster store had.
Apparently the rumor is Big Johns Tackle went out of business and they were the main supplier of these.

just got back from my first trip to Cold (Thurs. feb 12). Drove on at provincial park. smooth driving anywhere on lake. Ice 24"thick.
Iv'e fished a lot of lakes lately but I have never had to drill through such HARD black ice till today. For some reason the ice on cold just seemed harder to drill through.

We noticed the same thing when we were there a couple weeks ago. The auger was having a tough time drilling through the ice in places and it was darn near impossible to screw in our rod holders.

Hate to say it but I got skunked and my buddy got 2 bites but nothing pulled out. It was a beautifull day and we watched and spoke with lots of anglers that were moving around and did not see or hear of anyone catching a fish.

Pretty amazing how some of those big lakers can be so skinny or so fat. Would have thought a 35 incher would be at least 15 lbs.

I was out yesterday. Caught 8 in 4-5 hrs. Fishing in 130 ft of water. Decent amount of snow on the ice but with 4x4 you should be ok.

Yeah it's pretty crazy how the weight can vary so much, my 35 incher was over 20 pounds. All about the belly on those fish.

Fished saturday Feb 21. Fishing was very slow.About one every hour. Seen a lot of Lakers ,most were very spooky
(must have been caught before ha ha!)

Meet some other members for the first time from A/O Paule and Bingo .
Temp was - 31 in the morning and around 21 later on.
Have to agree with Splako out there, worst year ever for lakers.

ps.
About 8 inches of snow with some heavy drifts ,need good snow tires to get around.
