I ended up laid up in bed for a few days with weakness, chills, runs, sore joints and fever that was not breaking. Heck of a bad one going around this year.

Great. Just started a few days ago. Weak, freezing, coughing, soaked in sweat mixed with a completely random gag and sore throat.
Some days I wish I had a job that allowed 'sick days'.

Looks like I might be in for a good few weeks, hope it's just a short one.

Had sweats for about 3 days, stayed in bed for a couple of days (always hits me on a weekend), bad cough for a week then it went away.

I ended up giving it to my wife and she has been sick for over a month. Not good with her cough and chills.

Some folks this one hits very hard.

Here is a shout to the Canadian Blood Services (the old Red Cross).

I have been a regular blood donor since I was 17 years old and here I am on the cusp of retiring and I have never missed a minute of school or work in my life, because of sick.....and no flu shot.

I attributed it to the regular blood letting at the vampire clinic. This phenomenon is also shared by other long time donors....

Just saying, maybe something to consider?

Think I am almost out of the woods on this one.

Three days laid up with chills, no energy, no appetite, and worst headaches ever. Transition over two days to now feeling generally good but with 8tonnes of crap yet to be coughed out so coughing way more now then when I felt like crap

A weird one. Never had a fever at all throughout.

Never had the flu shot this year.

What started out with a minor case of strep throat which I've been getting for 30 years turned into over 5 weeks of flu or cold or whatever it was. Just got over that. Now it's teeth, have one wisdom tooth left in my head that never erupted, and it's giving me a good reminder that it's still there. Oy. Bourbon is taking the edge off...

I used to get sick all the time with at least two colds a year and the occasional flu.
I've been absolutely sickness-free for over three years now and it coincides exactly with the time I started drinking homemade beer. Coincidence? I sure hope not.

Now there's a theory I would love to endorse. Let me know if you hear of any clinical trials I could volunteer for!

Most people can't tell the difference between a cold and a flu. Many misperceptions.

People's exposure varies as does one's individual immunity.

Catching the flu or cold is directly related to the proximity to the number of people you come into contact with or secondarily so.

Also hygiene is critical to staying healthy (ie washing hands).

Also the severity of symptoms can vary so in fact you could of had the flu and just felt "off" for a day. You many have just one or more than one of the following. Anyone of which could be super mild to down right nasty.

Cough.
Sore throat
feeling feverish/chills
runny or stuffy nose
muscle or body aches
headaches.
fatigue
vomiting
diarrhea

I ride transit with coughing people daily. Before I go the shot I was sick lots. Since getting the flu shot I am rarely sick.

Vaccines save lives. If one has a health issue or is a senior the flu shot saves lives. It helps build immunity without being sick.

Saying you never get sick and never get the flu shot and imply some scientific or factual correlation to the two is a false premise.

Remember the cardinal rule...Correlation does not imply causation.

Flu shots only cover 3 of the main flus circulating based upon the southern hemispheres flu season data. Catching a flu with the flu shot is still entirely possible. Not catching one of the top three could be life saving for some and eliminate some nasty bad days for others.

Regardless of what you think I just hope you all stay healthy.

Cheers

Sun

We live in a multi-cultural society and we have an International Airport in Calgary with visitors coming and going....My point is, you never know where the germs originate?

Sundancefisher states; Also hygiene is critical to staying healthy (ie washing hands).

So often I see people eating without washing, coughing in their hand then shaking hands, grabbing a door knob and the list of examples of cross contamination continues.....

Washing your hands is the best place to start in stopping this transfer of germs....IMHO.....

It's also a good idea to wipe off all hardware which you're handling all the time once a week with lots of alcohol. Such as steering wheel, vehicle door handle (inside), main residence door handle, light switches, and keyboard.

Good to see others here go the extra step as well....

I've often thought that my steering wheel is part of what keeps my immune system strong.

Remembering the old Alexander Keith's 'spilly talker' ads, that persons hands would be routinely disinfected, no?

Caught what was going around.
I usually don't get sick very often....can't remember the last cold.
But this one has hung on to me.
Starts as a bad sore throat, then runny nose and THEN the cough and chest congestion.
What a nasty cough and chest congestion......has lasted 3 weeks...only just now its giving up its hold.....thought I had something worse for how long it held on.

Get sick once a year usually and lasts way too long...Didn't get the sore throat, but very runny nose, cough and congestion for 5 days now...Was trying to get out ice fishing one more time but this cold may last awhile yet....

Does anyone get a constant cough that they pass out? especially in the middle of the night?

I'm nearly cleared up now and off the phlem diet, the cough was the worst of it all. A friend coughed so much he dislocated a rib.

Yeah after a week it seemed to transition to the constant hack/cough phase but at least no chills/soreness (less throat)

I bit the bullet and popped the antibiotics today that the dr had given me. I have had enough trying to tough this one out.

Default cold / flu

Just turned 50 this year and things went downhill. Got 3 colds since January, and a super bad flu this week. I slept for 18 hours and had the strength of a 6 month old baby. hope this gets rid of it for the year.

Never took the flu shot yet, worried about being implanted lol.
