It will be out soon...if it is your first year there is a special category for first timers.

Default Registration for MOS

Website crashed a while ago and they are working to get it back on line. Should be up very shortly. Dates are Feb 28, March 1 & 2. Good idea to make your hotel/motel reservations now anyway as last year saw over 600 archers descend on Red Deer!! Super 8 and Days Inn are close to site.

Does anyone know how you let them know you want to shoot in a specific group? Last year there was an email node to let them know who you wanted to be shooting with.

I think it was on one of the forms to be submitted, or advised to them when you register. I'm trying to recall how we did it last year.

My link is pulling up 2013 as well. :/

Send an email to caaa@shaw.ca with your group. Make sure the people you want to shoot with all put the same time as you for their shooting time. They will do their best to get your group shooting together.

Smile Mother of All Shoots 2014

Now that the website is back up, lots of archers are registering for the shoot. We booked a room on Monday at Western Budget east and looks like they are filling up fast for that weekend. Days Inn and Motel 6 are offering special rates for the MOAS so go to MOAS 2014 website and get info for them there. Looks like wherever you are planning to stay, you'd best book it now. Expect over 600 archers for a great shoot!

Default rooms

Not only do you have the Mother going on but it is the same weekend as the Sportsman Show, so a lot more than just 600 archers in town, there are going to be sales reps in town. FS

Exclamation mother of all shoots 2014 - elevated drawing

Just a heads up for those of you planning on going to the "Mother" this year!

A new rule has been made that does not allow for any "elevated drawing" of your bow. Due to the number of arrows going through the ceiling and walls at the venue, any archers pointing upwards with their bows to draw them will be given one warning and then removed from the line if they repeat the practice. Most archers develop this habit from drawing too many pounds. However, if you check your method of drawing your bow and you find you have this habit, you have roughly 5 weeks til the "Mother" to develop a different way to draw your bow. If this means you need to reduce your draw poundage, you will obviously need to resight your bow.

Good rule change...

A guy had an arrow land next to his leg at an outside shoot last year...

Elevated drawing is a horrible habit!!!

Smile Mother Registration Tips

i was talking to Pat today. She is processing all the registrations and asked to pass on these tips. If you have a specific group to shoot with, register each person on a separate form and make sure you have the same shooting time. If at all possible, do the registrations together. Then send an email with your group to caaa@shaw.ca. Second, the 10:40 time slot is almost full. As the slots fill it will be harder to get your groups done. This is why it is very important to register your group together. I believe she said we are around 200 shooters already. As for confirmation emails, Pat has been sending them out, but some have been coming back as not deliverable. If this is the case for you, please send an email to caaa@shaw.ca. Pat is currently not at the archery shop, so this is the best way to get an answer. We are doing our best to respond, so please be patient. Don't wait to get in, as spots are filling fast.
As for the elevated draw rule, the westerner staff had a folder of pictures from last years shoot of arrows in and almost through the walls. They are really concerned about the safety of all people on the grounds and this is the reason for trying to enforce the rule. Help us be able to keep the shoot going, by working on the level draw. Hope to see you all there!!
