Default New to archery - father and son team looking for lessons

Good evening,

My 12 year old son has expressed interest in archery lessons. This seems like a great father & son activity so now there are two of us interested in lessons.

I am completely new to archery (other than some online research) so I am looking for direction to get us started.

Looking for a instructor who is willing to give us lessons simultaneously and hopefully be able to include equipment or rent us equipment until we are sure that this sport is for us. We are East of Edmonton so hopefully can find something in the Sherwood Park or East Edmonton area.

I have found a indoor shooting range in Sherwood Park and a archery association in East Edmonton but they don't seem to offer what we are looking for in the way of lessons.

Also wondering what type of bows we should be considering to start with?

Thanks for your help.

I know a fellow that is a Pro staffer for G5 Prime bows and he taught my son to shoot right after we bought a G5 bow. The bow my son got is called a Quest Rogue. I'll see if this fellow can help you out. FS

Well search function works well!!!

I am in the same boat. In the same area!!

I have 3 kids, 7, 9 and 16. All have expressed an interest in archery and bowhunting. I have hunted since I was a kid, not a lot lately though, but never bowhunted. The last time I drew a string on a bow was 25 years ago at Venturer's camp.

Given where we are in Strathcona County, it is likely better to have them with a bow than plinging gophers with air rifles and .22s (nosy neighbors).

If I could get some direction where to start, that would be appreciated. Where would be the best place to purchase? I really am not sure about Cabella's unless there is someone there that knows their stuff.

Thanking you in advance.

Greg

Default Elk Island Schools

In the latest Continuing education they are offering archery lessons in the Fort starting Marc 4 for three Tuesday evenings for I think $69 dollars.
