Three Osage flatbows . This is the natural color of the staves. The y will all darken like the center one with time and sunlight.
Same bows as above and a kids maple board bow.
Here is the kid bow being shot. These take about 2 hours to make .

Kids Snakey bow that almost made it. It died in final tillering.
I have a few more somewhere I will try to locate and post, but lets see some of your bows.

Here is a Vine Maple 15" MOUSE BOW a friend made. The arrows have Trade Point broadheads, and are made from bamboo skewers.

It's not that hard Neil. The big problem is getting a decent stave or board to work with. The actual building is realy pretty easy, and the tools needed are few.
All you need is a Ferrier's rasp, or wood plane, a Nicholson 49 or 50 rasp, a cabinet scraper and a chain saw file . For de barking or chasing rings on Osage a Draw knife is needed too.
A band saw can save some time roughing in the stave, but it is not needed ,and a Belt sander is another time saver that is just a luxury time saver.

I like it. I haven't had a chance for a Yew bow yet, but with luck I will get a stave to try. The Yew self bow is almost like the Holy Grail of bows.

Pete I have a friend in BC that said there is some Yew out near Creston, also I've heard there is some on Van. Island. I am heading to both places this year to look. My FIL lives on the very north end of the island and was a logger. If I can find some yew and get it back here I'll send a stave your way!

Super. I have wanted to try a yew bow for a long time, but as you know getting staves here is either ridiculous in price or next to impossible.
Thanks
Pete
