Primetime donairs are meh.. average. But they do make a good donair poutine! Get the family sized one, but make sure you have a defibrillator within reach.

Roadrunner donairs were the best food after a night on whyte, just pure meat and sauce. We went there so much we hung out in the kitchen when they cooked. Probably not their best idea to let us back there. Anyways went there for a sober donair and couldn’t finish it, unfortunately booze goggles work on women and donairs...

Basha in Leduc is my favourite, and Maina's in Beaumont is decent as well. Went to Tony's in Halifax a couple years ago and while it was very good, I honestly didn't find it head and shoulders above my local staples. Will have to try a couple of the others mentioned but I think it's more a case of getting a bad donair will stand out, the good ones are usually fairly comparative.

High Voltage hands down in south edm. Incredibly good the way they sear the pita. Had one yesterday. Nothing better

"The Donair Place" in the Shawnessy shopping center has the best I've had in Calgary. In Edmonton, the Souvlaki Deli in Kingsway Mall used to make a mean donair. Not sure if they're still in business. I like the way they crisped up the pitas over the gas grill.

I'm a bit biased but I hit up 'the donair shop' in Esquimalt, Admirals and Esquimalt rd intersection every time I hit the island.

They've been around for years. Used to stop in there on the way home from the halfway house, the Charleston club or the Tudor house. They were some good.

Also agree Cosmos is great, The original Cosmos owner is now Pks corner at the Petro, but Bashas Sasquatch Donair in Nisku is a 2 meal Donair and fantastic. However I’m also going to try Mainas in Beaumont as another buddy from Fort Mac who has had all of these says Mainas is the place. He’s peaked my interest and I’m known for having a few. Lol

If whatever donair place I go to doesn't crisp the pita on a gas grill or at least a pita toaster, they lose major points. Quite a few that wrap them up in paper and then microwave or heat up on a panini toaster through the paper or do nothing at all. That's when I decide it's substandard before even tasting it, although I always do because even a mediocre donair is pretty good. Went to King Donair in GP a couple of weeks ago. Ordered a regular. Holy hell! There was enough there to feed a family. Pretty much impossible to eat in hand and a heck of a mess. Pretty tasty although the bread was pretty mushy after the first few bites.

Maina’s in Beaumont. This place is great and my favorite donair and run by a very friendly lady. The chicken donair and beef are both fantastic.

I will Second Tasty K’s in Lloyd for Donairs. That place is amazing hopefully places like that survive this pandemic and are around when things get back to normal. Their home style sandwiches are to die for there too.

I feel sorry for lots of small businesses but especially all the ma and pa type restaurants. To me there are nowhere near enough of them and this is going to kill off a whole bunch. I really hope the majority can figure out how to survive.
Saw the lineups at the drive through at Tim's and McDonalds today. It surprises me that people are still doing drive through and takeout right now. Personally, everything I am eating is stuff we make at home cause u have no idea who is handling restaurant food.
