Default Any Water Well Drillers our there?

Ok, so I’m redoing an old well and am wondering if I can air lift it to clean it out.

It is a 4 inch well and had an old Jensen pump-jack on it.

I would like to convert it to a submersible pump because the old working barrel had worked itself into retirement.

But... I know there is silt in the well. It it about 200 feet deep with about 25 feet of silt in it.

Now the question... can I air lift it and get the silt blown out.

I would then like to put in pea gravel and chips to act as a filter before I install the submersible.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Not a water well driller, work with a geotechnical driller, and it depends on how big your compressor is of course, but I don't think a typical trailer compressor will blow it that far.

I've blown out 300' holes with a 375 cfm screw before. A foaming agent would help a lot.
But call a water well guy, be your best bet.

Not actively in the trade anymore but I have done this on old 4” wells. Give it a go with some 1” drop hose with a 6-8 foot section of 1” pipe hose barbed to the bottom of the hose with a trailered air compressor supplying the air. All that could go wrong on a old well like that is you discover it doesn’t clean up after 2-3 hours of blowing the well which indicates either a hole in screens or casing . And this could have happened after paying a company to do this for you.if it all works out look at puttting a slimmer pump in than the common 4” pumps as it will sit tight to the wall in that casing and has potential of getting stuck.Good luck

Where are you located?
You need someone with a rotary/air drill in your area.
They can run the pipe down without a bit and blow it out for you.
