Default Wholesale Sports trade-ins

Does WSS accept firearms trade-ins? Any experiences on that?

Even if they do, why would you bother?

They used to do trades years ago, Not sure if they still do... No sense giving a firearm away to a counter jockey who knows nothing about firearms values(or even worse, thinks they know).

The Edm North store did up until a few years ago.
Just as well. Trading in rifles is worse than trading in vehicles. You get pennies on the dollar compared to real world prices.
The dealer then makes 25-40% on the item.
Sell used guns privately as long as we are allowed to do so.

Milarm in Edmonton will sell your used rifle for you and give you 100% of the value against new gear bought there. Really can't beat that deal at all. Other than that here or CGN is far better than trading in at most places.

Prophet River has offered the same deal for a while now.

I used to sell everything in the Buy&Sell, or on CGN, but for the last year or so, I just drop them off at Prophet River and let them handle the sale. I don't have to deal with potential scammers or people that want more and more pictures, and I don't have to ship the goods. And potential buyers are more comfortable dealing with a reputable dealer, as opposed to an individual that they don't know.

I have been using my safe queens to fund my reloading and new gun purchases for a while now if you ask a good price they sell quick

Cabelas takes trade ins I do believe. Not sure what they offer for value though. I've used town post a few times. Selling here would be better id imagine though.

Cabela's Gun Library buys guns outright - no trade ins or consignment

You will do far better in a private sale or with Prophet River than cabelas. Their (cabelas) grading is fair, their offers reflect the fact they want to make 30% on anything they take in.

Been there, done that, sold privately for my asking price.

What i was told at cabelas, they try and sell new condition firearms for 70% of new price and they have to make 30% on a used gun. So in reality if you take them a rifle in new condition you wont get more than 40% of new price.

Far and away the worst deal I know of for selling used guns. How they get anyone to do it is beyond me.

I am not sure who told you about the "70% of new gun" as I have seen plenty of used guns selling there for a few bucks less than the brand new ones outside.

As I understand it, they will look up the current market value in the blue book of guns with respect to the firearm's condition, that is the price they'd sell as, and take off about 30% from that and make you an offer, plus a little extra for accessories like scope, extra mags, stock, etc. Which is how most other gun stores offer with a few exceptions. I mean, they gotta make money on it too.

You would obviously get a better deal if you sell privately but it is still an option, like a pawn shop, if somebody needs the money urgently.

Tbh, in my experience, I have seen them mostly make some reasonable offers which the sellers took happily and also seen them make some jaw dropping deals where the seller was looking for something way lower than he should have.
