So close I can almost taste it
Gun is sitting at the border, been there for a couple weeks waiting for the paperwork to clear. Ordered in December, was supposed to take 4-5 months, that was before the SHOT show and unfortunately the pile of orders that came with it. Spoke with Clay at Prophet River, he said it's been about 10 business days to clear paperwork and about 10 business days to ship, that was about a week ago or so, I'm hoping it lands here next week so I can finally post some pics of the rifle with pics of the holes in the paper to soon follow.
Boring post I know, but I'm hoping it makes the wait seem shorter.

I know how you feel when I was looking at all my rifle parts just waiting on the barrel. It brought me back to waiting for the last day of school in grade 5.

So far I've bought 2 new bows, a rifle for my son and a rifle for myself trying to bide my time, if it don't come quick I'm gonna go broke!
Worst case scenario it'll be another 3-4 weeks but I'm really hoping for a week to ten days.

It's a 30th Anniversary edition NULA (New Ultra Light Arms) model 24, made by Melvin Forbes. It's chambered in 280ai, NULA action, 24" stainless Douglas barrel, Timney trigger, and the synthetic stock designed by Melvin Forbes. Weighs about 5-1/2lbs with the rifle and rings, I've got a Leupold 2-12 waiting to go on it, should end up around 6-1/2lbs scoped.

I went with a medium brown, darker than tan but lighter than chocolate with black webbing.
As far as load development goes, I got a pile of stuff to try, 120gr ttsx, 139gr Hornady sst's,140gr ttsx, Nosler BST's and accubonds, 145gr lr accubonds, 150gr partitions, 160gr accubonds, and probably a few more I can't think of, I have about 4lbs of imr 4831, 4lbs of rl22, some rl19, 7828ss, h4350, and if that don't work I have a bunch more.
My go to load in my Kimber is imr 4831 with the ttsx's, I've got about 100rds of that loaded so that's where I'll start but I think I'm going to try working something up with the rl22 and the accubonds or partitions.

you have some good options there. Hopefully the winning combination reveals it self quickly.
Can't wait to see some pics of your new rifle. I remember what its like having a gun sitting at Customs for too long, my custom Cooper sat there for what seemed like forever.

They are a great gun. Worst part is they are way too easy to develop loads for. Every load I ever tried in mine, including some 308 military ball ammo, will easily shoot under 1". It only took a little work to get the groups down to 1/2" 3 shot at 100 yards and it moves a 150 grain bullet at 3100 fps with no pressure signs.. It will shoot an inch or under at 300 with the same load, 3 shots. You are going to love this new gun.

Dean, you sure aren't making the wait any easier!
I am so looking forward to getting that rifle in my hands. I think I'll do a few hunting trips up north just so I can go for a walk with my new rifle, lol.

What caliber is your Kimber? I've been looking at them lately as well. How does the Nula shoot? Which one do you prefer now? Awesome rifles man!

My Kimber is a 280ai. I haven't shot the NULA yet. The Kimber feels really nice when you shoulder it, but the NULA feels way better. The finish on the NULA almost feels like 280 grit sand paper, the finish on the Montana is a bit grippy too but not like the NULA. The bolt on the NULA is smoother, granted it's not a controlled feed, it's more like the Sako style extractor. I think I like the safety better on the Kimber though. Even though the barrel is heavier on the NULA overall the gun is still lighter and better balanced than the Kimber. To be honest I was thinking that it would be a toss up between the two because of how much I liked the Kimber, but shouldering them side by side made my decision clear really quick. I would pick the NULA over the Kimber every day of the week, but it also cost 3x as much. I like the feel of my Kimber better than my Sako Finnlights though.
If the NULA shoots as good as it feels I'll be a happy Hunter that's for sure!
