Default 2015 Easter ditch fishing safari

The annual trip to the Houston area to visit family just wrapped up. As nice as it is to see family, my son and I have turned it into a ditch fishing safari. For those not familiar with the municiple districts south of Houston, they have a network of drainage ditches to handle runoff. Many hold water year round and host an amazing variety of fish, over the years we have caught gar, carp, bass, tilapia, sunfish, cichlids, turtles and snakes.

Some pics, start with LMB. Very common catch, top water frogs are lots of fun

My favorite fish to chase down there, Spotted gar.
100% sight fishing. Lots of small ones

The cichlids were quite the surprise, we caught 6 the one morning.

Pretty well any standing water down there holds fish
