Default how to keep the ice hole open when fishing

How to keep your ice fishing hole from freesing up.

Material needed 4) 2 x 4s 12" long
1) piece of plywood.
cut plywood to fit on top of 2 X 4s
then cut a hole bigger then the ice hole. Place over the ice hole.
put snow around the out side of the 2x4S so that the wind will not go under the 2X4s.

It works

Well whatever works.
My hole never really freezes up unless im outside of the tent tho.
I Dont mind scooping every now and again.
Its Somthing to do right? Between hits anyways.
And tbh. id rather not have my hole all coverd id rather have the fish have free ranged over the entire hole.
But thats just me

Especially in a tent.
Id rather be able too see down the hole.
then have it coverd with wood. and have my line just slip down the side.
and 1 more thing
"STFU ICE"
i know blah blah blah.
But im a firm beliver Friction takes a toll on your line. Thats why i tie my line a certan way. and having such a bleek wood coverd hole. could potetionally fray the line,.
thats my opinion anyways.

Three step process:
1. Drink lots and lots of hard liquor (your choice)
2. Pee in the hole - you've become a natural antifreeze dispenser.
3. Call for a ride home when you've run out of antifreeze.

You got options

Invest in a Tent and a heater .

Or invest in a thermal tip up

Or Stop being lazy and scoop the hole out when it gets slushy .

I am usually in a tent, but thanks for the great suggestion!! I know some people like to come on here and hijack threads with stupid comments, but I am sure someone will find the tips useful and will appreciate your suggestion.
