Default Seabass

So the resort in Mexico I’m going to has tons of seabass right off the dock was wondering if any of you fine gentleman have ever caught any of them and what you use, last year I took my gear but the resort we were on you couldn’t get out far enough to catch anything and dammit this year I’m catching something was also wondering about permit as I have seen them in the shallows while snorkeling do you pretty much have to catch them on a fly/imitation crab or would they bite a lure ? Thanks for any info

As far as i know, if you fish from shore you do not need any permits or licenses. I have fished off shore with the locals in the Mayan and in Cabo. I usually bring more tackle then i need and leave it with the locals when i leave. They are usually super helpful and fisherman are the same no matter where you are. Good luck.

Sand fleas work good. Dig them on the beach after the tide goes out.

The correct name is mole crab. I was fishing in Ocean City, and the locals called them sand fleas.
