Lakers aren't up shallow spawning on the rocks yet, be end of sept/cot before that happens. Catching anywhere from 70 to 150 feet.

Ya I guess your right I am used to northern area. Sept 9-22 is best up there. I would say they are everywhere right now as shallow as 30

I'll be heading out there first thing in the am with my Brother for our last rip of the year on Cold Lake. A keeper would be nice but just hoping for lots of action like we have had already this year.

It was another great trip to cold lake . Just a day trip 8 hours of fishing and the two down riggers were going non stop . We caught 30 lakers .The second fish of the day was a good 80 cm but after that they were all short of a few inches.
We did have one really good hook up.
First of all we fish with 30 lb line so we keep the drag set tight . All the fish we
caught all day had zero slip on the real including the 80 cm guy .
But when this guy hit it was just pulling out line, until it ripped the hook out of its mouth. It was like being snagged on the bottom but with pull. We were 25 ft off bottom so it was not that. Next year !

Just a couple of lakers from the trip.
