Default English Bay Campgrounds Cold lake

I see English Bay Campground is open again in Cold Lake.
I have never been in it ,as it has been closed for a while .
Heard they were going to make many improvements.

Has anyone visited it .Good boat Launch?

when we were up in may we launched there for the day. Cant say anything on the campsites as I didn't look but the launch was ok... fairly small with a small dock and had a pretty big hole just before the concrete slabs which was interesting to maneuver around. all in all it wasn't terrible and had no trouble launching my 17' alumacraft

Nope, its not first come ,You must be thinking of the one by the ski hill.
It is listed on reserv a camp stall .

Also found a pdf on how they want to build a new boat launch etc.
Sounds like they have not done that yet .

I launch there quite often when going to the north end of the lake. Launch is pretty good, steep but works fine. If its super windy you are exposed and getting the boat on the trailer could be fun. Water level is way up and the last time I was there the dock is under the water.

Thanks guys for the info.
How is the road going there . Is there much gravel ?

Is the road plowed to the boat launch in the winter like the other provincial boat launch is?

Was there a few weeks ago, campground is good, every stall has power and they are quite roomy. It's first come basis for a stall, road in was fine, few miles of good gravel even when it rained. Boat launch is good too, steep as mentioned above but all in all it's a nice spot

You can go north up hwy 897 and turn right towards the fish hatchery (twp rd 650) then south again (RR432A) towards the campground. This way has way less gravel. only small amount south of 650. Or if you are in Cold Lake the faster way is north on 28st or English bay rd. You will go through the CLFN reserve. Roads can be hit and miss. But usually are decent enough to haul a boat through.
