Don't have to get anywhere close to that scientific about it. Sight in using MPBR at 25 - 30 yards depending on what you're shooting and you won't be out of the money range to almost 300.

Not to derail but has anyone had decent results with Hornady superformance factory ammo. I tried a box in my 270win and it shot terrible. My nephew tried it in his 243win, 7RM and 338 wm. 2"groups at best.

I was selling a sauer 202 to a friend that was ill but wanted a fine rifle for his last few years of hunting, only catch it had to shot a very tight group,we went down and picked up 6 different types of ammo, the blue box in a 300 win shot a very tight group and thought they were going to be the worst and shot the best no cuff,so he took the gun with a smile.I buy cases when on sale for some of my guns, then I have the brass that was fired from that rifle, neck sized and good to go.When I get picky it's reloading time.Buying once fired brass from some other rifles is a headache.

I had terrible results with my .270 and .300 win mag, I was told that they improved on the superformance, and created the ELD-X, which function flawless with both my rifles!

At one time (don't know if it is still true) the 180g bullets loaded in the 300 mags had a slightly harder core than the bullets loaded in the lower velocity ammo. There was a bullet test chart on the web 15 years ago showing test results for 180 g 30 cal bullets and the Winchester power point was one of the top performers at both low and high velocity.

As far as the 270 is concerned the bullets I used most for deer were the 130g Winchester power points and were about the best deer killers I have ever used.

30-06 - 1 likes Federal blue box and the other Hornady Whitetail
308 - Likes Powerpoint
7mm - Likes CoreLokt
243 - Likes Blue Box

The 7mm is an X Bolt and both 30-06's are Vanguards. I'm not going to say what size groups they'll punch, but I have absolute confidence in them for hunting purposes out to as far as I feel confident shooting. I've shot enough out of both to know that it's not the ammo in the off chance things loosen up a bit (it's the shooter )

Default .204 Ruger

I love my t3 Varmint .204 ruger. I have always been a hornady guy but today I did this at 300 yards. Hope they knock coyotes down as hard as the vmax do. I think I have a new winner!

Almost all of my hunting rifles have shot either federal blue box or Remington corelokt very well. 1 inch groups at 100yards. But my zastava 243 will not shoot either under 2 inches...time to find some new ammo for it...just so darn expensive ..I will probably try fusions and hornady next..or Winchester super x

I don't reload and can chime in. I have not owned a 270 in a few years so can't specify anything there.
My 300 WM seems to like heavier bullets 180 grain or more. It groups anything Horniday best but the SST exhibits poor terminal performance at closer ranges in 300 WM. The SST has performed well for me in 308 WIN at 150 yards plus. As for the federal fusions, the group about 20% worse than other factory loads in all my rifles. A little worse in the 300wm and a little better in the 308. However, I have had a couple of great kills with them in 308 where they smashed through bone and stayed intact while opening up nicely. The 200 grain ELD-X group well with my 300 WM but I haven't shot an animal with them yet. Also, I have found that the Winchester super X work fine for a low cost cartridge. Rifle is a CZ550 UHR I think 24" and 1:10.

Fusions and federal blue box seem to shoot great 90% of the time for me. Have tried federal premium ballistic tips and they shoot great in a 300wsm of mine. Hsm with berger bullets have seemed to shoot great in the 3 rifles ive tried them in. Winchester ballistic silver tips have been mediocre as in 1.5" to 2" on average for me but work great on deer and bear. I mostly reload but i usually run a factory box through just to try sometimes. With reloads im a big fan of sierra gamekings
