I always think people do it for the challenge of a difficult follow up shot as one will likely lose sight picture whilst working the action. Unless I am incompetent, which is likely as well.

Not to me ... I respect game animal's and find that a scope improve's my ability to make a clean kill in low light and longer distance shot's ... but I do take out an iron sighter when ever the urge hit's but know the limitation's and hunt accordingly ... I just can't see limiting a Savage 99 or Browning BLR ... or a .307 or .356 94 or the Marlin .444 to 100 yard's

Scary ain't it ... just going through a spell waiting for a moose tag ... cheaper to buy beef and the kill part has faded ... old age I guess ... The last muley just to fill a tag was actually a turning point .
