Default Hasse lake take 2

Went out to Hasse lake today. No luck at all but I think its because it was so windy! I used my fish finder off the dock and saw hundreds of small perch. Si iether they are not biting this time of year or my fish sonar is a peice of junk.

Hi, I'm wondering if the dock has been straightened out? It was displaced big time by the ice and the folks who maintain the lake were going to fix it.

They should be biting if they were there. How small were your jigs? Did you use maggots? I've been there often and no one is catching so it seemed there were no fish but my family was catching lots only because we use very tiny jigs and small bait. Others had large jigs and big pieces of shrimp which the fish likely were nibbling at but could not get into their mouth. Made all the difference in the world.

I'd like to pop a camera down just off they dock. That would make it clear if it was fish you saw or interference. Actually I bet you saw fish because there should be no significant weed growth or stuff growing in the lake this early in spring.

Further, I forgot. You're probably right. The wind would have really made it tough to see the bites so that could be a huge part of it.

Cool, thanks. I might try to get out there with a camera and take a look. Not sure when I can right now ... but eager to find out.

You must have posted while I was composing mine. That doesn't sound too lively. I still might try just in case there is an off chance they weren't were you went.

Stopped in at Hasse tonight to take the boat for a run. Fished a few different spots and NOTHING. Talked with 2 others and they were skunked too and were there for a good part of the day. I didn't bring my camera so I couldn't look underwater but it's not ooking good.

Winter kill =/= dead lake. Although it sure seems that way I've had terrible luck at Hasse, even with tiny jigs.

I was using tiny hooks. I went more so to test out my new motor. Doubled my speed and runs like a beauty. I just had to throw in a line to see uf it was still not producing. I would say it has winterkiled. Just wanted to confirm.

IF ONLY you were all so lucky to have it completely winter kill. I suspect some perch survived...

If by a stroke of pure awesome luck the perch are killed...you can all start fresh with a great trout fishery.

Good luck...fingers crossed.
