From what I've read the orange bottle stuff isn't true tanning.. But I did 2 foxes with it 2 years ago and they are doing fine

I've tried the halfords kit that is true tanning.. I used it on a couple of beavers. It's work and time consuming.. Much more than the orange bottle stuff, but better results.

I wouldn't use the orange bottle stuff on thick hid animals like a beaver, only thin skinned non oily hides like fox/coyote. I wouldn't use the orange bottle stuff on things that have personal attachments too either.

Ya the videos I watched he did some coon and skunks and they looked good. The beaver he used a wire wheel to thin the back a little and they looked ok using the orange bottle.

I have used the orange bottle stuff on foxes as well. wasnt too bad and they turned out soft.

Tried a small bear hide last year, results were not that great.

True tanning kits are probably the way to go
