Yes I am often surprised how little press it gets. It's a great coyote/deer cartridge, and I used one to take an Elk awhile back. Factory ammo is more readily available and recoil is very moderate. I think everyone should own one.

This is why I went with 6.5CM - the ammo is available, it has factory loads suitable for every kind of large game in North America (within a reasonable range, you're not going to be magically dropping a moose at 400 yards), and could be rebuilt into a long-range precision platform if I decide to get a different hunting rifle down the line.

I've shot one since I was 12.( 30 years now) All I need, light recoil, consistent tak driver and available ammo. Taken moose, half dozen plus elk and lots of deer. We have a lightweight kimbre 6.5 that my 13 yr old shoots. But when I let him he shoots the 25 06 easily lol

I would take the 25 06 before the 243 any day of the week. I had 3 in my lifetime and they worked real well .

I would go with the 6.5 creedmoore.
Light recoil and great deer gun.Easy gun to shoot,he can fire off a lot of rounds at the range practising without getting a sore shoulder.

That's a terrible handle for a kid to live with ,YOUR THE 6.5 CREEDMORE KID ,hell that's mean. there is no gun there that should hurt a kid unless he scopes himself.

Just joken around ,they will all work fine.

Weatherby Vanguard in .308 was my Son's first.

Came with shortened stock and full size....

Bought reduced load for him and worked great! Used it for a few years and others have used it to get use to "the kick"

His soon to be wife has shot a few critters with it too!
