Default looking for a gun safe

Looking at getting my first safe for the guns and was wondering what everyone has and what they would recommend. Looking for space for amo and around 10 guns. Just looking for now so price could be reasonable.

I get 5-6 scoped rifles and 2 shotguns in my Green Tin Can that is suppose to hold 10 Guns. Small shelf at the top that doesn't hold much...I need a bigger one!

So I would buy a safe that holds 20 if you want hold 10.

Don't need to spend much to make it legal...you can spend a lot if you want fire rating, good steel. I would be aware of the overall weight of it in case you move.

Do you want legal, or real protection? The price and weight will vary a great deal, depending what you want. And as has been mentioned, buy one that has at least double the rated capacity that you need.

Browning safe purchases include shipping to your door.

I bought a 25 gun safe from my John Deere dealer a few years ago. They are made by Liberty just like some of the Cabelas ones. I priced a new one the other day and a loaded up 25 gun is around $3400 now.

Any names for movers who are actually experienced in moving a gun safe into a residence (downstairs)? Edmonton region.

They’re not as hard as you think to move. You and two helpers can likely do it pretty easy. An old comforter and a tow strap around it to lower and raise with two guys on the bottom. You need to watch out for nose caps on hardwood, ie main floor. I cut a nice piece of lumber that fits tight under the cap to the stair tread and Bob’s your uncle.

I also know you can rent stair crawling dolley’s too.

Good point about the nose caps taking on a load like that, never crossed my mind.

Costco and peavey mart. Can’t beat them for the price and functionality.

Take the door off first, saves a bunch of weight.

When we moved into our current house I had the bright idea of putting the safe on the 2nd floor. Not sure who the idiot was that thought hauling a gun safe up steps was a good idea but me and a buddy got it done.
