I want to be very very wrong, but I dont see much hope for a lesser violent society in the future. Things are getting very very volatile with not much value on human life these days….

Sadly, you are not wrong, things will only get worse in a society where criminals have more rights than victims.

Condolences to the families of those police officers, don't know any circumstances but I'm sure the shooters were not 1st time offenders

Condolences to the families. Hard to find words for these senseless tragedies.

So sad to hear. Condolences for the families. The blue have taken a bad rap the past few years and I know there is good and bad everywhere.
It is a tough job! Combine that with the world, community, city etc we live in as mentioned and it is more difficult.
Yes, it will get worse, and this is coming from a glass half full guy!!!

First of all, condolences to the policemen and their family. Just terrible.

Something has to give, this cannot go on.
Chief McFee has been trying hard to clean up Edmonton, but gets zero support from Edmonton leadership.

I live in Woodcroft. Last weekend the PizzaHut cashier shot and now this shooting just across the street in Baywood apartments. Same guy maybe?
More stabbings during the week too, and that Londonderry shooting/murder.

Edmonton is indeed in a downward spiral under Sohi and the lefty council who have openly mocked the police many times for trying to clean up Edmonton. Mike Nickel warned about the massive increases of violence and crime on Edmonton streets and was mocked for saying the truth. He finally just wiped his hands of Edmonton and said, good luck Edmonton with leadership you voted for.

Edmonton truly is a s#!^h*!e.

Tragic. 0900 news said they were responding to a domestic dispute. Very very sad.

Condolence to the Families of the fallen, and to the entire EPS staff.

What horrible news to wake up to today. Condolences to the officers families and friends who knew them. Thank you to both of them for their service. People B&%$! and complain about the police all the time but who do they call when in trouble. I am happy to hear the scum did himself in as well and won't be doing this to anyone else but they are saying his partner is in hospital with serious injuries. Hope she pulls through.

Mayor Sohi was quick to vote in budget cuts for the police but approved 100 million dollars in bike lanes.

What an amazing time we live in…..

The city has made it clear where their priorities lie, and the citizens safety will suffer , brcause of who they voted for.

Sad day for a whole lot of people, my heart goes out to the families involved and to the other officers as well as first responders.

Absolutely agree with both of these statements.

I don't believe the 100 million extra would have prevented this tragedy. I do believe if we ever got a mayor and council that supported the basic needs of this city, or any city, we could see progress and maybe a difference.

Mental Health issues are running rampant through society, and I believe the more governments try to address mental health and awareness, less is being done to get to the core of the problem. What governments are doing is making MP's and MLA's feel good about themselves, nothing meaningful is being done to help. Mental Health is only one issue, but it seems to be the apex of many other societal issues we all face daily.

Again not to derail the tragedy of today's events.

RIP

Would be nice though for sure!

Just wondering if this was another “known to police” guy with a rap sheet longer than your arm. Time to cleanup the streets. The bleeding heart liberal garbage of handing out needles and revolving door court system needs to be addressed.
