Default Gopher hunting in red deer

Just wondering if anyone know where to do some gopher hunting around or close to the red deer area. Or some fields close by that the farmers don't mind people picking off some gophers?

Its pretty tough to get permission for any kind of hunting fairly close to the city. But land changes hands so it never hurts to ask.

Or even within a hour or so of red deer would be great.

Even if you do get permission the grass is going to be so tall it will be tough to see any.

you just need to find a area with more "short grasses", me and my buddy picked off about 100 each, in cattle grazed farmland. Avoid any tall grass fields. Best suggestion, how i get my land, is pick a secondary gravel road off of the highway and pull up and ring the doorbell. The worst that can happen is they will say no.

Any gravel road just look for ranches/farms and drive up to the front door of good looking locations. *

Something else you should do is go pick up a County of Red Deer map with the landowners names attached to the land you may find your Gophers on. Makes it much easier to contact them and only a phone call away , oh and take a phone book on your drive....
