Default Ceramic Bobbin

I decided I would try a ceramic bobbin out. Saw it a Canadian tire for 13$ (might be the problem). My question to all the fly tyers out there... I can not seem to use it without breaking the thread. I bent the arms back to loosing the tension. I'm used to wrapping with the bobbin basically parallel with the hook, but I feel like I have to awkwardly wrap with the bobbin perpandicular to the hook to keep the thread from breaking. Maybe it's a lemon, but for new I'm back to my trusty old 3$ metal bobbin.

Sorry this was meant to be posted in the fly tying thread. Admins/mods feel free to delete this thread.
