Some may be self-medicating for anger issues or general frustration.
The MJ temporarily masks the anger,
but does not cause it.
I've not experienced the thing you refer to. I find most MJ smokers to be fairly chill people, and tend towards passivity more than aggression.

Ever met a tobacco fiend denied their crutch?
The most miserable people on the planet are cigarette smokers without their fix.

Talk about mood swings. I have never smoked MJ or done pills or did what ever. I smoked about 2 to 3 pkgs of cig back in the late 60's, woke up one morning and started pounding myself because I had stop breathing, (so I thought), reached over and got the cigs, crunch them and have never smoked since. Drink a lot, sure, probaly more then most, now I am down to a 1/2 bottle of wine per day. Maybe when I had booze, maybe I was irritable, don't know or don't remember, what ever, although I never had a reputation for being moody. But MJ smokers are, with out question, "MOODY"

Everyone has some sort of coping mechanism that does not necessarily have to be alcohol or Marijuana or illicit drugs.
Many people are addicted to legally prescribed pills by a doctor.
Why do we never discuss that?
Plenty of doctors out there that will quickly write a script for serious opioids for their patients and keep the dependency going.
Mood swings are not brought on just by the user's choice of crutch.
imbalances within a person's body or brain contribute to their moods
several mental issues can lead to mood swings.
Or you can be born female.
The holier than tho crowd would rather find fault with the coping mechanism than the underlining cause.
Just because you won't use it, doesn't mean other people won't.

My step dad was a daily user and that was his biggest downfall. Great guy when medicated and then a terrible person when off. It was a shame cause it ruined our relationship. It was tough growing up in a house where you really didn’t know what was acceptable or not.
That being said there are always exceptions. But I think that anyone that uses the stuff everyday when eventually become almost schizophrenic. IMHO of course

Except tobacco is a physical dependency. Pot is not addictive physically so they are not the same

Did you mistake my clear words for me stating that tobacco and weed are the same thing?
Also what is your point?

You hit the nail right on the head for daily users....Schizophrenic / Bipolar
As soon as it becomes legal there will be more daily users.
Will crime go up ,to help some one get their next fix.
I can see a lot more family arguments and spousal harm ....
Divorce will go up .

Lmao. Yeah ok. Marijuana doesn't cause the two conditions you've mentioned but it has been linked to exasperating or early triggering of symptoms.
I have never met a pot head that would steal a truck stereo for a bag. There is no physical addiction so what are you basing this on.
I've also never met someone who toked up and then got violent. Met lots ood drunks who do though.

all of the daily users I know that get grumpy are usually heavy smokers too. The ones that don't get grumpy usually just stick to cannabis. The only mood swings I see are maybe fatigue when it wears off. Crime will not go up and you will not beat your wife. Don't believe the reefer madness

Unfortunately I know more people that are miserable who use it daily when they aren't able to use it. When they use it, they are great. Very kind, calm, easy to talk to and just happy people. When they are off it, they are a completely different person. Some of them are total snap shows. Very angry and no patience for people or anything at all.
Not all people I know who use it are like this. However, I would say the majority of them are. We have cut a number of them out of our lives because of their behaviour when not using. Very unfortunate.

I’m not against legalization, I support it. But I also know what I experienced. And it’s purely anecdotal sure but I’ve seen it in enough friends/family to feel that anything used outside of moderation has an effect on who you are. So the whole steal a stereo example is a straw man argument pulling from ops point.

Actually pot can come with a dependency / addiction component.
You need to know the facts.

You realize you can buy cask strength whiskey right? Its called being a grown up and using your judgement and exercising restraint.
Oh my god. This booze is twice a strong as what I normally drink maybe I should not adjust my intake at all and drink the same volume I usually do.
See how ridiculous that sounds?
Pretty much as ridiculous as what you just typed.

So you just jump in head first into anything you try rather than easing into the experience? Sure hope no one ever messes with the temp control on your hot water tank because that cannon ball into scolding water sure is going to hurt.

One thing I've learned from this thread is that people who smoke pot are really defensive about it, almost paranoid.
They also can't even discuss it without mentioning alcohol, cigs or coffee.
I don't recall ever hearing people who drink too much using other peoples excessive pot use as an excuse for their over indulgence.

Likewise I've never heard the opposite, a pot-head using an alcoholics abuse of alcohol as an excuse to smoke excessively...?
That's preposterous...

True .
Also people that smoke marijuana have almost always dabbled or use other drugs regularly also .
Some people need a crutch to get through life rather than maintain a clear head and face it head on like a real adult does .

Wrong

Current research supports that marijuana is both physically addictive and psychologically addictive.
