Default Eagle Nest Pass

By good luck I will be hunting this area this fall. I am wondering if any one that has been in this area could help me out? Is this mainly a Sheep area or is there a good population of elk there? I am thinking I will be trying to get a sheep but if the chance of getting an elk with the bow is good I will pack in the bow.
Thanks

I have heard some talk of elk and mulies in the hills but I have yet to talk to anyone who has actually been out there. I am heading out there to scout for anything I can find around the end of the month. I hope to find lots. If you need someone to go scout with, send me a message.

People have lots of info about Wilmore. But they are most likely not willing to share. Just get your hiking boots on and go explore

Not much for elk they are traveling through if you see them but back at Rock lake lots and if you are in there with your bow up high sheep hunting your best bet is to hunt moose as you will see some in valleys the mulies will be there but sparce.. if you need more info on Willmore Phone Kip Kelley in Hinton and ask him about a guided trip for Elk in there .. he guides out of Rock Lake that is his lodge..George Kelley Outfitting or he might of change it to his name

Good luck
David

As mentioned earlier, the elk are around Rock Lake and back towards the highway. I have yet to see an elk once I have left the staging area.

Eagle's Nest Pass is one of the busiest spots in the Willmore, at anytime during the summer/fall. Summer, there are lots of hikers and horse parties. Fall there are lots of hunters/outfitters passing through to other ranges (but still hunting their way through). It's a beautiful spot by very busy.
I have never seen an elk in this area but I have seen droppings (not fresh). The pass area is wide open with big areas of sub-alpine meadows etc, so there could be elk there once in awhile but with it being so busy with humans they may avoid the area.
