Just come out have fun , bring your family meet new people, enjoy your days out fishing! I dont know a guy who fishes tournaments to get rich, but i do know lots of guys who fish tournaments for the fun/ competative edge it brings! So stop complaining about the entry fee money you guys dont make sense, and your making the sawt look bad , when in reality the 4 guys running sawt have turned it around big time and are offering minor/ new changes in the positive direction for the sawt 2012 tournaments and the years to come! For the guys who like to complain step up and run the show , ill tell you what its not a easy !

My 2 cents

Jason

See you boys on the water !

Or you can look at it this way, for the same amount of entry fees you have lost 32 payouts(chances to win). The more oportunities for more people = better no?
Those same fishermen are still going to be out anyway = no savings
Agree having fun is a big part of it though.
Just saying, increasing entry fees may not be a good thing and may drive some teams away.

Yes I know what regs are for and changing isn't what I was saying if,I said its more fun to be able to weigh your fish it's not like the small aren't coming into boats already but this has gone way off topic anyhow I don't need a lecture from people I just wanted to hear from some guys who might be interested in fishing in some tournaments anyhow thanks for comments from those interested in what I posted for in the first place

Are u serious!!! For the health of the fish ! Oh boy u better go back to school! Alberta regs are not set up for the health of the fish ! Keep all the mid size and 10 lbs walleye and throw back the 30-49 cm fish ! How does this make the fishey better when your taking the breeder fish out of the lake ! Thats why you can go to any walleye lake ie chin, ridge, crawling valley and catch 50-60 20-46 cm fish a day! There are so many fish in the lakes that its stunting them! If it was set up for a healthy fishery than there would be a slot size of 50cm - 75 cm fish go back in the water! And people can eat the 30-45 cm fish 1-2 per person ! It would slow down on the poaching ! My opinion

From looking for a partner for fishing tourny's, to how alberta is wrecking the fishing here. Another thread derailed in record time.

I was trying to make the point that the regs are not set up to help either sport fishermen or the tournament fishermen. But if you are to blind sided to see that so be it. As far as going back to school one of the most ridiculous comments ever made but so be it.

Just one last reply in regards to regs and how they are set and who they are set up for I didn't want regs changed or think regs are wrong what I am saying is that how can you or anyone else think that giving everyone a chance to weigh some fish is going to harm fishery??its a catch and RELEASE last time I checked and I know alot fisherman would like to be able to participate on another level not just 30 boats that know the lakes intimately either way it's not going to change and that's ok too I was simply making a statement.
Nor am I blind or stupid or a elitist fisherman I just know the fish are being caught anyhow so how does it harm the fishey to weigh fish that are already being caught? In any event I value everyone's opinion just can't see why my original post looking for potential friends to fish with needed to become a debate about what's right for fishery our opinions are just that opinions. Lots of educators here but again I'm not trying say anything should be changed I just think it would ad a different exp. to all those in attendance

Ok if it = no saving why complain about the entry fee ! Higher pay out will hopefully bring a few more teams from northern alberta and sask! And since its 100 extra per tournament that your complaining about , why fish if u cant afford it ! I guess if 100 bucks makes or breaks you , im no financial advisor but i suggest you stay home and maybe only due 1 tournament instead of three!! Food and bills are more important than fishing !

Once again my opinion !

wishingiwasfishing i was planning on doing all the sawt and some swt but have never fished the swt. I have a 2007 1800 crestliner set up real well for walleye and a 34 foot 2006 motorhome for travel if needed. In the past i have stayed in hotels but also enjoy camping. I'm game for any tournament and $ isn't a problem.

First off, wishingiwasfishing sorry about the off topic/hijack. We will start a new post if needed. But one last post to drop tine.

I can afford the entry fee and will be there to take your money.
However, some that I have talked to may not!!!! Hope we get lots of Northern trail guys to make up for it. Maybe we should raise the entry to $1500.00? Good payouts.

That would be an intense tourney and I would love to be there to compete. I think if they did a big money tourney like that on Newel or Macgregor it would fill up fast and draw quite a bit of attention from guys in Sask. and up north.
