Default My 1st pike ice fishing

I was out at Wabamun and I caught my 1st ever pike on ice. It was 4 pounds. I had another up the hole but it was stubbern and stayed sideways and eventually got off the line! My tip up was set off as well, but I pulled too soon and missed her.

Hey, there you go! You didn't need a second person to help you out after all! Keep it up!

true, I remeber there was a thread about making side by side holes, but I can't seem to find it. Do you just axe the ice inbetween the 2?

drill them alternately couple inches at a time and overlap them. if the ice is thick enough you can do 3 or 4 more connected to it but not all the way through the ice, that way you can keep the fish in the water, and they will usually swim right up into the slider holes

Nice fish Thundercatcher. The 2 holes does make it easier though.

Yup, pikehunter1989 and I only had to go shoulder deep down a hole once or twice before we learned that lesson!

edit: and with a gas auger it's not really much more work...pretty much like drilling 4 holes instead of 2. Look at some of the run-and-gun perch guys who punch a hundred holes in a day!

Sometimes you gotta put in a little extra work to get the results you want

Keywords "double holes" brought it up. Took a couple of tries for me to find the right keywords.

The advice is no different than what was said here already.
