Default Grizzly incident near Cranbrook.

Saw this posted today on Facebook ...

Nov 1. 2018
A Grizzly bear near Cranbrook is dead after attacking a dog walker and responding conservation officer.

Nicole Caithness with the BC Conservation Officer Service says a man was attacked while running his dogs along the Wycliffe Forest Service Road on Oct. 20. The male, who was carrying a rifle, shot and injured the bear during the attack.

Responding conservation officers determined the bear had left the scene and tracked it five kilometers into a rural area.

“When officers got close to the bear, it emerged from cover, charged, and attacked the officers,” Caithness said.

Officers killed the attacking bear, but not before it got a hold of CO Matthew Corbett.

Caithness said Corbett sustained serious injuries and required surgery to repair damage to his hands.

The BC Conservation Officer Service is reminding the public to take care in the wilderness and manage attractants with bears entering their most active period prior to hibernation.

running his dogs along the Wycliffe Forest Service Road

Thinking this incident was unnecessary and due to someones stupidity. Dogs like to bring their problems back to their owners.

Some granola greenie lower wastelander forgot to tell the bears that it’s “not socially acceptable” to hunt humans.

Sucks for the guys involved, but that’s what happens when hurt feelings leftists take over wildlife management. If it was me or mine that got attacked, id go give the local dipper the same treatment the bear got.

Also, is hunting with dogs allowed in BC? Rifle and 2 dogs....

Hope the CO recovers well

I imagine he brought the rifle for this very reason. Bet he’s glad he did!

Of course he wasn’t hunting . I’m just being the devils advocate here. I’m not allowed to do what he did. It’s all perception. Twisted either way. Glad he had a rifle could’ve been real bad. Just saying is all

Yes it is legal to hunt all big game with an accompanying dog in BC.

Not saying he was hunting though.

The jogger seemed to knows what he was doing. Maybe not the CO.

Turns out the guy wasn't walking his dogs but riding his 4 wheeler ATV and the dogs were hounds used for bear hunting . My friend in Cranbrook says there is more to the story than reported.
