Default Place to take a kid fishing?

Hey guys, I haven't fished in over 10 years or so, and my son really wants to catch and eat a fish. Any suggestions on where would be a good place to take him near Calgary or Red Deer (we're kind of in between)? Thanks in advance!

I believe pine lake you can keep the pike, buffalo you can keep pike, gull lake and sylvan you can keep walleye, gull has a slot size limit though, 45-50cm.

There is a stocked pond called Cipperley's trout pond only a couple miles north of Didsbury. Stocked with rainbows and tiger trout. It shows on google maps if you enter "Cipperley's trout pond and campground".

I used to fish there using worms 3 feet below a float or with a pickeral rig on the bottom.

^ But you probably don’t want to eat those if you want a good tasting fish.

Thanks guys! We ended up going to Red Deer river. Caught 2 whitefish, lost 5 (still learning, and dad was a little rusty). Overall, it was a great day!
