Default Kananaskis Fishing

We have a family function next weekend in K country (Barrier Lake area), and I was wondering if its worth while throwing in a rod and tackle? Also, I know i need a provincial park pass, but do i need a different fishing license also?

An Alberta license is all you need for the area. Barrier can be fickle, even with a boat, but you can try your luck from shore near the dam. There are some nice hike in lakes (Rawson, Picklejar) and the Upper K at the outflow can be good (but crowded).

If you've never been, I really recommend the short but steep hike into Rawson Lake. The scenery is stunning.
