Default float tube

I am wondering pros and cons of float tube or single man pontoon boat fishing? I fish alone a lot, and am thinking this might fit my needs...or kayak fishing. I would like to hear from folks that use the float tube boats...are they ok on bigger lakes , are they ok for a full day on the water?

I used a tire tube belly boat for a number of years and upgraded to a Fish Cat 4 pontoon style boat a few years ago.

The problem on bigger lakes is the wind and waves, when you are propelled by fins, you are at the mercy of the wind. They're more suited for smaller lakes / ponds, or if you were protected in a bay on a larger lake.

My Fish Cat 4 is way more comfy for all day on the water than the old style tire tube belly boat was, plus warmer as you are not completely in the water like the old style. The trade off is weight, which really isn't a problem unless you're doing some hike in fishing trips.

I think the belly boats and 1 man pontoon style float tubes are great for smaller lakes and if you like to get off the beaten track a little.

I have a float tube, pontoon boat a and a kayak...I have not touched the pontoon boat or the float tube since purchasing the kayak in 2010.

If you run into bad weather it is 10 times faster than a pontoon boat.

Just my opinion other views may vary.

Why not try best of both worlds...

I own one and it is awesome. Lighter than a pontoon. Easily beats the wind when trying to move quickly and deflates to nothing when storing.

It's a Caddis Inspire LC.

Cheers,

Scott.
