Default 2017 Hay Prices

Wondering what everyone is selling round bales of good hay for this year. I know last year we were charging $60/bale, seems like there is more good hay around this year.

We are located SW of High River. While our hay was put up dry for a change, there was a lot less of it. Very short compared to previous years due to a severe lack of rain. I am guessing we have at least 20% less feed this year, and judging by the long spaces between bales on everyone else's places, it will be a common problem. So, I would think prices down here may be higher!

Really big swing in prices depending on where you are. Given how expensive trucking is I guess it kind of makes sense, Who grows the better hay most years, Northern Alberta or South?

Good question

I sold mine $45 in the field. Could get more but might have to wait but I find if a guy holds on to it then the elk come and it's worthless then.

Trucking is brutal but they have to make a living as well.

As to the area that usually grows the better hay that's a tough one. Every area has its good and bad years. The most consistent I would say would be the guys set up with irrigation.

My good friend just picked up 170 bales @ $42 a piece on a local deal.
