Change your letter to the public and you might have something there.
As is the theme through out, it is the viewer of said entertainer , who believes they are in control of the entertainer and thus can simply turn them off.
The entertainer exists because there is an audience.
I'm not a celebrated person, so I don't have an audience, except for the handful that will read this post.
My opinion is that, my opinion.
Some here will agree and some will disagree with what I say, just like I will with what other will say.
All members here have different levels to which others will adhere to what is posted.
And in most if not all cases, there are those that everyone waits to see how or what they will say in regards any given topics.
So we have our celebrated members.
And there is many who have many individuals blocked so they won't see what is posted by those individuals.
Thus we choose who we listen to and who we don't.
Like Jane Fonda and Leonardo Dicaprio.
While many here don't want to listen to their rhetoric in regards to the oil sands, there are many more who do want to listen.
Many who are in those influential positions to make or break as it were.
Yes we can all decide not to watch Leo's movies.
After all it is we who watched and made him the celebrity he is today.
So he has an audience.
He has a means to have his words heard, because he knows millions will listen to him, and as many will agree with him as will disagree with him.
Will he or anyone listen to the things he doesn't want?
Just like those that have people blocked on this forum, he can do and does do the same. He blocks.
People , all people, listen to what they want to hear.
There is many people telling the likes of these celebrities that the oil sands are bad, and they are listening and they are trying to get more people to listen.
Im sure at the gatherings that they go to, there is people telling them that they are wrong, but they also surround themselves with people that keep inflating their egos and telling them that they are right.
And isn't that just human nature?
The little person doesn't get heard,
the squeaky wheel needs to be pretty big to get the most grease.
So long as the one voice is louder than all the others, that is the one we listen too.
