I guess I went about my career wrong. After I high school I started working for an oilfield electrical company. I showed up the first day with shiny new tools and was told to put them back in the truck and grab a shovel and rake. After weeks of hand digging trenches I got to use my tools. I had to walk in front of my truck for mouthing off, buy beer for my journeyman for not taking direction, and told multiple times I could call my mommy. I'm 27 now and have been a red seal jouneyman for four years. I make 120-130k a year and work half the year. A few of my buddies opted to full contract and make 200-300k a year with them and their truck. Nobody packs your lunch or folds your clothes for you here. You get back what you put in.
If your scared of putting some effort into being succesful you won't go far.

F350? What are you stupid? Prob don't even have a lift on that baby, surprised you don't get run over by the monster trucks. Talk to me when you got a F650 with 12" lift bud.

And all this because the kid asked for some suggestions for skilled patch jobs that don't depend on your back. If he doesn't want to stand in freezing crap for 8 hours I think that's his perogative. Nor is it disrespectful to those who do. But as usual the thread has spun totally out of control.
Matty, figure out what you would LIKE to do for a living first. Then figure out the best way to make some coin at it. Maybe you won't make 6 figures, but you might be happy.

Poor kid wants everything for nothing...I wish life was handed over on a silver platter. I for one am proud to say I used a shovel, it makes me appreciate running equipment and how comfortable I am now

So I put this together, as of Burglecut83's post (and including mine). If you posted you got 1 point. If you quoted Matty you got 3 points. If you got quoted by Matty you got 5 points. Matty's score worked different. He got 1 point for each post plus 1/5 points for each member he pulled into the thread....
Mind you, I did make one mistake in post count and I guess that is why I don't make $150k, despite my degree.
and we have our champion...
