I was there yesterday and the White are agressive as hell!

I mainly fish Pike out there, but I seen so many whites coming by on the camera I thought I'd throw a wire-worm down there... I had two nice ones in a matter of 10 mins. When I was watching them on the camera, they were even taking stabs at my red devil setup for pike... which is unusual.

I was just using a wire worm with a yellow bead tipped with two maggots. As soon as I dropped it down, when one came around, it would hit it. I lost a really nice right at the whole because I had my head up my arse, I would have guessed it was 3-4lb.

Also, I was fishing in 6' of water near the Wabamun Marina.

Hope this helps.

here is a pic of one from yesterday. This seems to be the average size.

FYI, Capital Health still has a 'health advisory' in place that recommends not eating the fish or waterfowl from the lake. This has been in place since 2005 and a recent letter to the Wabamun Watershed Management Council (WWMC) from Capital Health indicates it won't be lifted soon. They still have concerns about residual oil in the lake.

As well, SRD has proposed catch-and-release only on Wabamun for the 2008/09 season to protect fish stocks that were collapsing before the oil spill.

Was out at Wab today enjoying the awesome weather.

Fishing was slow near the Wabamun Marina. My theory is that it was too bright today to fish the shallow water there. A few others were not doing very good there either... I pulled up a big white that somehow gulped my Black Devil/Minnow setup.

I moved to a spot near Fallis and the Pike were hitting consistantly out there, and were much bigger on average than at the marina. Pike here were fat and avg'd about 5-7lb. I fished deeper water here and it worked out much better. So I think the sunlight played a factor.

Overall the fishing was average...but the weather made up for it.

A group was forming up just as I left to go to Fallis... must have happened right after I took off.

I drive a red Ford stepside if that helps..
