Default East pit? Maybe Coal?

One of my friends wants to hit up East Pit Lake this weekend. Anyone have any info on it? I have never fished it and haven't had much luck fishing for trout in the winter either. How is the access by car? I doubt I will drive on the ice with all the snow we've had, is it going to be a long trek to a decent spot?
I want to hit up Coal Lake, any reports from there?

I haven't been on the ice this season. Somethings wrong with me.

you better take sleds when you go to east pit as you can ride down the hill - ,should be a blast the walk is about 500 - 800 meters it depends which way you take, down the hill will be shorter walk, if you're gonna walk around the south side of the lake you're facing a 30 min walk, especially in this snow.
regarding the fishing there Iam not sure how it is during the winter season as I only have fished the lake in the summer, some nice rainbows there, but the bite is never consistent, one day you end up having lots of fun, the next day you may question yourself should I be at a different lake
Give it a try and report back if you can.

Hike to Cardiff lol, you can almost cast to cardiff pond straight from the parking lot.

Cheers !

Thanks for the info guys.

In deep snow Cardiff seems miles away from the lot!!! Lol can't imagine East Pit then!

I still want to do Coal Lake, I guess we'll see who wins the battle.

Decided on East Pit Lake. Backup plan is Wabamun Lake or Lac Ste Anne.
Anyone know if there are Perch in East Pit or just Rainbows?
