Any tips for someone who's never fished sylvan? Hoping to have one last hurrah of fishing before it's back to school on Monday. Would be happy to catch anything, but the idea of these whites is certainky appealing...

Greatly appreciative to anyone who can help. I would be glad to share some tips about the southern AB reservoirs that I know in return (hopefully they don't all end up melted...)

If you guys follow the lunar calendar Central Ab. should see a "New Moon" on January 05th .... fishin should pick up and get much better just prior to/after the "Super Full Moon" on Jan 20th .... but no one believes this stuff but me ... do you ?

D.
It helps for sure. Weather is the bigger factor and they are lining up yet for this New Moon. Still East winds today. But hey, have to give it a try anyways

Made it out for a few hours this morning. Headed out just past the skating rink in town so I could check out the Lethbridge Hurricanes practice on the lake this morning.

Had this guy on the smallest size emerald shiner sebile vibrato jig inside the first 5 mins.

Saw 4 whites and only one was active. He hit the black and orange grub with a pink maggot.
Lost him just below the ice.

Foggy start for sure but good on ice entertainment.
Now I'm "Ready for Some Football!!"

Cheers,

Scott.

Was at Norglewold today. Saw 8 whites but couldn't get most to bite. Lost two at the hole but that's it. Generally a slow day

I was fishing just about 100 yds. south of Sylvan lane access point. There is a weed bed and I started just on the east side of the weeds. I started fishing around 8:30am most of the fish I saw in the first couple hours were in 2 to 5 ft of water. Later in the morning around 10:30 I drilled a hole in deeper water about 10 ft and saw about 4 fish out deeper between about 11:00 am to 1 pm. After 1:30 never saw a fish. I packed up around 3:30pm

The two takes i had on Sunday were on wireworms. The first take was on a brass wireworm and the second take was on a orange wireworm. I tried almost every color of wireworm and a few other lures but most of the whites wouldn't commit. I might head up to Sylvan this Sat.
One thing about Whites is they can be very picky one day and the next day hit almost everything

Ya had probably the biggest white of the year so far come up and kiss my hook and say see ya later, never saw him again at Norglen and caught 2 - 5lb Jackfish on my jigging spoon there. That's about it for the day. Saw a lot of very small perch by lighthouse area. Nothing moving a RR23 at all. I totally agree a slow day fishing is better than usually everything workwise or bad health wise.

Guys I'll be at Norglenword on Sunday. I want to try out a few new worms I tied. Hopefully I'll have some luck. I'll be fishing out of an Otter XTH Pro Lodge Tent. Come by and say hi
