Default What was your first hunting rifle?

Which rifle did you use to harvest your first big game? Do you still have the gun?

My first big game was a spiker white tail that I shot last year. A good friend of mine lent me his Savage 99 TD in 250-3000. It's a neat gun that has been in his family for a long time.

my first deer was with one of my fathers collection a original browning belguim olypian grade pencil barrel in 308win with a custom made thumbhole stock, leupold. then a domoulin 30-06, oh the list goes on
pimpin! and hi stylin!
the rest of my rifles are in someone elses collection now after the breakin. maybe one of yours right now.

if you have a acquired/bought sometime after 2000,

huskavarna crown grade in 30-06 with a 6x leupold
ruger heavy barrell 6mm 4x12redfeild
fn mauser custom stock in 300winmag 3x9 leupold
browning buckmark 22
winchester 8 shot defender with pistol grips
keep the guns i want the names....

Default First big game rifle

First one was a Savage 99c .308, purchased it in 1970 for $120. First fall with it I took a 4x4 whitetail. Had it for 13 years. Wish I would have kept the little beauty. Usual stupid reason for selling....thought I needed something, shiny, faster and fancy. What a dumb@ss I was.

Marlin 336 in Thuddy-Thuddy. Took a mule doe my third day out in season with it. Still have it and still use it. Bought shinier guns but there is something that keeps bringing me back to old Betsy.
