Not sure what Re means by cost more. I have 2200 sq ft home, my water, sewer and garbage bill combined is $20/month. Natural gas bill was $57/ month. Only high bill is power since Kleiken deregulated power, but same high cost as in town.

Also, well production, if its not very good can add cost to cisterns and extra booster pumps as well as take up more space in a mechanical room.
What is a good number in terms of well production?

When it comes to soil sampling for septic, what are the red flags to watch out for?

Never had to deal with either....any help or general tips would be appreicated

You want a GPM of 5 for an average sized house on the well, although thats the last thing to worry about. You want to know the water quality before you drill. Call the local water drillers, they usually have a good wealth of knoweldge about the areas they operate in. You can also go the government website and pull well reports from your area. This will give you a good idea of the depth you'll require and if you may even be able to find someone in the area to tell you about the quality of water. Oh, and remember getting a well drilled you have to pay by foot drilled. And there's no way to know how deep it needs to go until you start drilling.

For the septic just call a septic company and get them do to a perc test on the property. It's basically just checking how much the ground will absorb, release, etc.
