Default Crawling Valley

Now thats a great report!!! Were you fishing the South side or the North? We tried last weekend to get to our usual spot on the North east side of the lake but it looks like the Hutterites but up a fence right across the road we take. We ended up on the south side across the dam and only caught 2 pike in 3 hours of fishing. Not bad for the first time out but we usually do better on the North side.

Where about did the fence go up? I know you should be able to still head east towards the lake on the so. end of the colony yes? That road is not theirs to block I don't think.

Nice burb! Love eating those, so delicious. Do you catch them on a regular basis out there?

I didn't think it was there's to block either. All it was, was a row of new fence posts that had one strand of wire across it. It didn't go anywhere. Just ran along the main road blocking the side road to the lake but did not actually go anywhere or connect to another fence. I will admit that it was extremely foggy and I had a hard time even seeing the turn off but it was blocked with the new fence. I might head back there this Saturday or Boxing Day to see if there is another way to get to the north east side. Google maps shows a road on the east side that should get us there.

Anyone try to access from the north side by going on the road so of the colony and if so is it still fenced? If so a call to F&W may be in order

As far as I know the Hoots own all the land that surrounds CV. Not sure F&W can do anything.
I'm not sure what's up with the fence, but I'd just ask them. I'm sure they have another way to the water.

My son and I are going to try this lake tomorrow. I've only been a couple of times and have had limited success. I've only fished just off the boat launch or along the south dam. I think we are going to look for a route up either side tomorrow. Wish us luck!

Default Whitefish?

I haven't fished Crawling that much but it does say in the regs there is a whitefish limit. I have never seen them with the camera or heard of anyone catching them so but are there actually any whitefish in the reservoir? If so, any general directions would be much appreciated.

RDW....We ended up going to Chainlakes instead. My 9 year old didn't want to spend the day finding roads to take us up either shore line and just wanted to catch some fish. So although I didn't get to do some much needed exploring, we still had a great day.

I really want to make CR my go to spot....just need to find the right spot on it. I'll post again after my next trip out there.

While I never target the Whites they are for sure in CV Saw quite a few last winter on the camera in 8 FOW on the north end and in the bays by the islands on the south end also in 6=8 FOW

Good luck

We went back today and the strand of wire has been removed where it crosses the road to the lake. We had a pretty good day. Landed 3 pike and 3 walleye. Also had one small pike come off at the hole and another rather big pike break my line. We even seen 2 decent sized perch on the camera but they were too small to bite my jig & minnow. Ice was around 12"
