Exclamation Best place around Calgary for underwater strikes?

Hello everyone,

I am in Calgary filming a TV commercial for a new fishing lure.

We have some underwater line cameras that take great footage.

I am looking for the best place to go to get some strikes.

The lure is a 4" swimbait with amazing action.

We do not have a boat in Calgary so shore or Dock fishing is preferred.

Or a place where we could rent a boat.

Anywhere within 2 hours would be okay. Any species of fish is fine as well.

Appreciate any help!

Thanks,

Stephen

Sylvan Lake: that would be my choice.

But it would take a boat. I would rent one in Calgary.

Sylvan Lake is probably Alberta's clearest, non-mountain lake.

With a 4" swimbait you will get some nice pike and walleye action.

My next choice would be Gull Lake for the same reason....clarity.

Right now, Gull is fishing well for walleye.

I would go early in the am once the sun is up and look for them relatively shallow to get some good footage.

Both Gull and Sylvan are within 2 hours.

I would offer up my boat but I just got it winterized...too bad, would have been fun.

Best of luck!

Swim bait you could try chestermere for smallish pike. Or CVR has some fairly good shore fishing.

I was going to recommend those two lakes as well.

Burnstick is also a good choice . https://youtu.be/r3BuRGhBXN0

Check out my youtube channel for videos on Sylvan and Gull as well if you need an idea of their clarity.

If you want I could take you out in my canoe and get you the footage you're looking for.

Upper k is super clear right now, see the bottom 20-30 ft down. Not sure about the swim bait there though

Not from the Calgary area but just wondering when we'll be able to see the swimbait!

Honestly....if you want to get some beastly footage id take her over to Badger lake... Im not sure how she looks at the moment but its very clear in the winter time when i generally fish it. A 4" will bring in some gators!

The southern dyke wall has some great fishing if you can cast it past the shelf (maybe 35' paat waters edge, if the water is warm enough i wade out to cast into some good depths), theres generally some big fish ceeeping around the dock if you wait long enough, and the bridge/dyke at the north western face always has a tremendous amount whitefish fairly shallow. You may not catch them guys with a swimbait but theres always a big pike cruising around looking for an easy meal.

Good luck
