Default Night fishing?

hmmmm.... I was unaware that you could fish at night. This is great, I can get some evening ice fishing in.

I haven't done it myself either, so I'll be watching the thread to see if anyone has some pointers.

Night fishing is great!!! You have the place to yourself mostly, and certain species feed after the sun goes down, like burbot. It can be colder, so prepare for big temperature fluctuations, and wind. My new fav is to bring my woodstove and have a fire on the ice, to warm the hands up after handling fish, and making a pot of coffee.

Use bells on your rod tips on rod holders to signal bites, or wrap your line around a beer bottle then down the hole so that when a fish takes your line it knocks the beer bottle over and makes a noise.

Give it a shot, just remember if you go through the ice, you better be prepared to save yourself - there are not a lot of people kicking it around a frozen lake at night.

One of the first times me and a buddy went at night, it was early in the season, and couldn't drive on, the one thing we forgot...LIGHT...so we could see what we were doing.

As long as you're warm enough, its fun as you really have no idea what monster you're bringing up to the surface. It's also a lot more peaceful as the crowds have usually left. Mainly you catch burbot at night but you can get the pike and walleye if you use something that makes a little noise.

I'm normally a night person so fishing at night is awesome for me.
