Default Ice report

I know it’s early lol.

But with some still waters frozen and some open it would be nice to gain some perspective for planning purposes.

Anyone still ice fishing with this warm spell?

Are you seeing open water in your region?

Thanks in advance, tight lines

Default Still fishing?

I took a drive to East Pit yesterday thinking after all the warmer days the pit would be open. I was wrong, but not the only sucker looking for a spot to fish on it! Between the 3 of us there we walked the entire length and only one or two spots of open water!

Then I went to Star and it looked like it was open until you cast a lure and it skids along the top of the ice! Funny thing was someone else must've of thought the same and backed up their boat trailer into it and when they heard the ice breaking realized it was frozen!

Hasse was open and for a minute I thought I was at Beaver lake for the amount of vehicles there! There was a mass exodus of pontoon boats into the water! LOL! Northern Alberta fishers are crazy people and I'm one of them!

Hit up Chain Lakes (ES1) yesterday and it was ice free, at least from what i could see. I imagine it's the same for all the southern water bodies.

Thanks for the update, Stryker2! I was planning on going to east pit on Friday for some open water fishing from shore. Guess I will keep the long rods packed away, and maybe head north?

Any reports from the Lac La Biche/Athabasca area?

Default More ice

For those of you members of Spring Lake and thinking of going out there during these mild days, forget it! Was there this morning and lots of ice on the lake.So
disappointing...It's going to be a long winter!
