Default Abraham Lake

Anyone been out that way in the last few days or planning on heading out before the weekend?

I've never fished it, but heard the horror stories and looking to get as much info on the ice as I can before committing to the drive as the last thing I'd want is it to be unfishable.

Thanks,
Cory

Be careful on the ice. Water levels fluctuate with the dam.

Cool

The western reservoirs are not to be fooled with . One must spend time (yrs ) gathering knowledge of these bodies of water . Water levels change often, even daly, current likewise move long distances in short periods of time .
A lad must take time to learn these waters and err on the side of caution .
Not worth the risk with out prior time invested.

Default Abraham

I saw some pictures on another site from last week, a guy with very large testiculars was fishing on it, on the ice about twenty feet from open water . He said water will be at top of hole and then drain away to below ice level. Looks nice but I wouldn't be able to force myself out on it .

It's not just the Dam that weakens the ice on Abraham. Google Abraham lake Alberta and you see there can be a lot of gas trapped in the ice which weakens it.

eg.

you get the odd good one. Mostly small though. 100-1. Similar to fishing Spray, but you get the odd bonus Bull or Bow. There are alot safer lakes to fish with a better hook up % though. If you do decide to go, tread lightly, and be careful.
