The best part is that he started off by saying suckers are good lol.

For the record Marty I was more focused on your claims that all our fish are only good to eat for about a month, I haven't tried suckers yet.

Maybe I will have to try suckers this year and come up with a good recipe to share with Marty lol.

Default Canned suckers

My grandma used to can the suckers which made the bones soft. Then when they were ready for sandwiches she’d put a good squirt of ketchup in it and say we were eating salmon. Gosh that woman could cook!!

On Canadain Sport Fishing he covered how to prepare sucker on one or two episodes. Below is a short excerpt of one of his shows covering it. I especially like it as it breaks down the fine bones that are left after filleting.

Personally the sucker I ate was not as firm as he says in his video here but was as good as some walleye I have had. That I imagine depends on the water body and temperature etc.)

If you looking for the full episode showing them catching then cooking.

I caught that too, hence my comment.

I had to read it twice because he just turned 180 degrees on you like a pit bull.

Fished with a guy that used to catch and eat sucker .....he cooked some up ...I tried it fried, and it was bony and a bit soft and not a pleasant texture. The flavour was kind of bland (not bad but not great) but I'd likely not try it again.

The amount of bones in the meat was absolutely ridiculous.

I see they have y bones. That definitely would make them awkward to cook/eat since there isn't a lot of meat to begin with. This also explains why most people can them or grind them up for patties.

I see a few sources that talk about scaling them, filleting then slicing the meat down to the skin in 1/4 inch slices. Supposedly if you do this then deep fry them it softens up the bones.

Trying sucker is going to be one of my goals this year. Pretty sure they can't be anywhere near as bad as when I tried goldeye lol.
