Traplines North, the book
I'm sure it's come up before and some of you have read it. It was one of my favorites back in the 70's and inspired me somewhat among other things to run a small line in the Peace River area in my teens. I think it was $2.00 for a license as long as it was on a designated LSD. Good times. Never made much money but cherished the experience. Sold most of my furs at Danberger's or the Bay in Peace River at the time.

Haha imagine the looks you’d get walking into the bay today trying to sell some furs. Priceless Kodak moment!!

Trap Lines North by Stephen Meader, a classic trapping memoir written for boys, must have been in every school library in Canada. By far the majority of copies that I have seen are worn, and have library markings all over them.
I would have read it in the late 50s or early 60s in Victoria, B.C., like most any adventure minded boy of the time.
The story line has Jim Vanderbeck 18, take over the trap-line in Northern Ontario, when his father is laid up.
Even ratty x-library copies are expensive due to demand and scarcity.

Probably a first issue or close to it. You can buy brand new paperbacks for $30.

When few copies are listed unscrupulous sellers post "hoper" or "sucker" prices.
No sane person would pay stoopid prices.
