Default Looks like some cereals aren't the Breakfast of Champions

Ever noticed the labels on the breakfast cereals you eat? pic 1. Ever notice the labels on this cleaner? pic 2. Yikes!

Now another yikes. Glyphosate in our cereals.

Maybe all of us should get some class action dividends from Monsanto/Bayer like the guy that just got the 250+ million settlement.

Think I will stick to eggs for breakfast.

I am not to worried about it for myself, too old. But it saddens me to see the world my Grandson will grow up in.

I believe that we are lucky enough to live at the peak of Human existence, population increases and dwindling resources, as well as a lack of a will to survive are not boding well for our future.

The reality is that overpopulation and how we are coming to the end of earth's resources is pretty much a myth. It has been propagated as fact for so long, it has become almost an axiomatic truth, when it is no such thing. It doesn't take a lot of time to look into it to find out that Malthus was dead wrong in his ideas on the topic.

Even common sense and a little unbiased observation would indicate that most of the earth's land masses are very thinly populated, if not outright empty. Quite apart from the Arctic regions of Canada, Siberia, and Scandinavia, you have Australia and NZ...mostly empty. Africa thinly populated if you look at density. South America, same. And the technology and farming methods we have are more than sufficient to feed everyone easily.

I'm not going to go into an in depth treatise on this, but there is an abundance of information to show that the whole overpopulation scare is no different than the scare of the coming ice age/global warming/climate change of the last 50 years, or of crime and violence skyrocketing, or pick your social problem. Create a crisis, come up with a 'solution', and control the masses for their own good. But I could get off topic. Here is a short and easy primer on the topic.

Sorry for the hijack. Cereal is bad.

Does this mean we can finally address the lies about overpopulation?

The overpopulation myth is the ultimate form of fear porn propaganda, it forces people to accept that there is no hope, no way to fix the world we live in, it's a joke and no one should take it seriously.

More lies from the liars that want you off the land and into the city prisons.

We been eating glyphosate in our cereal for about 45 years. It and similar chemicals are also in the feed chickens eat, so your eggs and chicken dinner, steaks will have trace elements of it also. It's pretty much in or on every grain, corn, wheat and pretty much every thing grown from the ground and everything that these products are made into and anything fed with these products. In other words that stuff winds up in most everything we eat in one way or another.

People like you forget, there may be an abundance of land, but only a small portion of it is inhabitable or suitable for agriculture, which has been doing an increasingly delicate balance between supply and demand. Oceans have been fished to the point that populations have collapsed. Remember the cod ? Come on, when we're looking at krill and insects as food supplies, we"ve over reached ourselves. The signs of our collapse are there, Ignorance is Bliss.

It's probably too early to explode heads....but it would sure be refreshing to see reality expounded.

'People like me'...what, simpleton? Uninformed? Not enlightened like people like you? Well, that's a conversation killer.

Not even remotely, but you have to admit any time someone says 'people like you' as the opening line of their argument is not going to really be open to anything. Mind made up, that's cool. The world is coming to an end for sure someday, so eventually you are right.

I had no idea and my son just finished a bowl of Cheerios, lovely. I personally like special k with strawberries but stopped buying them when Kellogg’s made fun of a Canadian legend by the name of Gord Downey in one of their commercials. The one where it shows a guy dressed in silver or basically the uniform Gord wore for his final performance tour walking through an office setting basically saying don’t be afraid to look like a clown or along that line anyways. Shame on them.

The lack of science literacy and healthy skepticism on this forum is alarming.

I like some cereals although prefer oatmeal with a little brown sugar and milk/cream. Guilty pleasures, food police be damned! Captain Crunch, Sugar Crisp and Mini Wheats!

This about sums it up. Amazingly enough, our life expectancy has increased in that time

The use of chemicals for desiccation needs to be looked at. It is something that we could do without.

How do you get field peas dry enough to combine without spraying it to kill it off? How do you kill quack grass without round up?

Spraying quack grass is not desiccating. Lots of pea fields around me ripen without chemical.

to add to this problem we are buying our medicine from China. Now our blood pressure pills from China are giving us cancer. What an easy way to take over the world.
