Default Car parts worth removing on old car before junking it?

Hi Folks,

I'm sending a 2001 Chev cavalier to the wreckers. It has a cracked head gasket which I just don't have the time to fix myself.

I will be removing tires and wheels and the newer muffler from it before it gets towed.

Is there any value in cutting out the catalytic converter? If so who would I take it to for resale?

I can't think of any other parts that are worth removing to resell. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Donate vehicle kidney car foundation. Recieve tax rebate. $100.00-$3500.00. Depends what they sell car at auction for. Recieve tax credit about 2-3 months later.

alternator, ac compressor, rad, condensor, etc. etc. Those tend to be worth a pretty penny. Depends what they're offering you for the whole vehicle.

Throw it on kijiji as a parts car...$350 You might get lucky. Or throw it on and say "parts for sale, free to $200" Spend a week letting guys pick the car apart and then take it to the crusher.

In theory the whole car has valuable parts if you take the time and energy to part it out. The problem is that its a 01 Cavalier, not too many of those even on the road anymore let alone some looking to fix one.

Now I know it's not the same, but years ago I had an old Alfa Romeo that I wanted to sell. It was rusting badly and about $1000 was all I was going to get for it (this was in 1978).
Then someone told me that the sidedraft Weber carbs on it were worth about $500 used.
I pulled those and a the Veglia guages and such out of it and made over $3500.
If you're willing to spend a couple weekends tearing things off it, it may be quite profitable.

Air bags if it has any. All the fuses can be kept in a bag as extras. Fuses are usually universal. Different light bulbs might be sort of generic too. eg. signal, interior, headlight.

Sounds like work and freeing up storage space for junk!
